Another surreal year has zipped by, both in and out of lockdown. While international borders remain closed and exotic holidays are off the cards, it’s become more important than ever to create paradise on your own patio to enjoy downtime with family and friends. This year’s outdoor furniture collection takes comfort to the next level with beautiful pieces that blur the line between indoor and outdoor living. Early Settler’s head buyer, Monica Porter, has compiled a list of her top outdoor furniture buyer’s picks for 2021/22.
One of the stars of this year’s outdoor furniture range is the Glaze outdoor dining table. With its tile-look finish and three on-trend shades to choose from, it’s set to be a showstopper. “I love the pop of colour the Glaze tables will bring to an alfresco area from moody blues to pastels,” says Monica. “Personally, I can’t get enough of the blush pink.”
The new white version of the Kace outdoor dining table and benches is also set to be a big hit, Monica predicts, as it goes with everything and is very weather-resistant. “I adore the size and clean lines of the Kace, it would look amazing on the deck or even in a sunroom. It’s the ideal entertainer,” says Monica. “There’s room for everyone over long lunches with friends.” This powder-coated galvanised steel outdoor table comes in both a 2-metre and 3-metre size.
Boasting a curved-seat design and high armrests in a choice of denim blue and paprika red, the Lyla outdoor dining chair is comfortable and lightweight made from polypropylene, which can endure all-weather conditions and be easily sprayed clean with a hose. “The Lyla is comfortable, fashionable and stackable,” says Monica. “I love the on-trend colours — they look great with any outdoor table and add a sense of fun.”
The Harley is made from all-weather chocolate brown wicker over a matte-black powder-coated aluminium frame. It’s very durable in outdoor conditions and comes in both a 1 seater occasional chair and a 2 seater sofa design. “I love the contemporary lines and relaxed recline of the Harley,” Monica says. “It’s perfect for lounging around the pool and also ideal for small courtyards or balconies.”
“The Serenity sofa is one of my favourites,” says Monica. “I love the spacious dimensions — it’s perfect for sinking into after a barbecue with friends or simply escaping with a book. The Serenity comes in a sofa and armchair design and is pretty enough for indoors too.” Fitted with thick cream cushions, this outdoor sofa also invites sneaky afternoon naps on the deck.
