Spoil mum this Mother’s Day

Whether you’re making it for your mum or partner (or dropping hints that you want to receive it!), Hayley Little of @mumlittleloves has a very special way to spoil mum on the 9th of May with a handmade faux flower bouquet. Wrap it in hand-painted paper from the kids to create the perfect personalised prezzy. Scroll through this step-by-step guide to see how it’s done:

Make Your Own Mother’s Day Bouquet - step 1
Step 1: Assemble your supplies. You’ll need a large sheet (or roll) of kraft paper, ribbon, twine, scissors and a selection of faux flowers. Hayley used the combination of faux flowers listed below, but you can use whatever combination appeals to you.

Step 2: If you plan to wrap your faux flowers in hand-painted paper, set up your little Picasso at the crafting table to start painting. Kraft paper is available in most crafting stores and even comes in a handy roll so you can keep it on hand for special occasions.

Step 3: Start assembling your bouquet. The beauty of faux flowers is that they don’t need to be stripped, clipped or have any prickly thorns removed. Simply take one flower stem at a time to assemble, starting with the bigger flowers to create a focal point at the centre of your bouquet.

Step 4: Tie your bouquet with string.

Step 7: Cut a rectangular piece of your kraft brown paper to get ready to wrap your bouquet. You could use plain paper, as shown here, or your hand-painted wrapping paper from the kids for a more personalised prezzy for mum.

Step 8: Turn your paper so one corner is on the diagonal, fold the opposite corner up to form a second peak.

Step 9: Place your bouquet between the two peaks.
