Three Birds Christmas Surprise

A very special Christmas

We’ve all faced challenges in 2020, yet some more than others. Three Birds Renovations approached Early Settler with a very special styling project for a family in Westpoint, New South Wales who has been going through a difficult time. In fact, they haven’t had a proper Christmas celebration in five years. Forced to postpone their home renovations halfway through after mother, Teena, became ill, daughter Lauren reached out to Three Birds. The design trio – Bonnie, Erin and Lana – decided to give Teena’s home a Three Birds surprise Christmas makeover so the family can have the happy holidays they so deserve this year.

“When they responded, I was in tears because I knew how much it would lift Mum’s spirits,” Lauren explains. “Erin said that she wanted to do some special things at the house for Christmas and it’s going to be amazing.”

Elegant Australiana

To create a warm, Australiana, homely feel, the team went for natural timbers, plenty of native flora and a colour theme of burnt orange, pairing classic Christmas ornaments with dried flowers on the Christmas tree.

“You want your home to feel like it’s this little holiday, a staycation… it’s an important Christmas, we need a nice Christmas this year,” says Bonnie.

Sheer curtains allow plenty of natural light to filter in and highlight the Christmas tree and Ink Round Coffee Table. “I just love the coffee table from Early Settler,” says Erin. “It ties in perfectly.”

Warmth & atmosphere

The living room is anchored by a stunning Clover Sideboard because “Christmas isn’t Christmas without a good drink,” says Bonnie. Chosen to make the balance of the room flow, the buffet is topped with ornaments and tinted glass bottles in umber orange to draw the theme together. “We’ve brought the colours through in the styling – the pillows, the throws, the books,” she adds.

“Another red-hot tip when you’re styling for Christmas is candles,” says Bonnie, who clusters them in groups of three on the dining table, sideboard, coffee table or anywhere you want to add a little bit of extra ambience.

Deck out the deck

Outside, Lana explains, they wanted to “deck out the deck” with a dining table that could seat as many people as possible and style it to tie in with the gorgeous natural surrounds and give it a festive feel.

They chose the Antigua Dining Table paired with the Antigua Bench on one side and comfy Weave Dining Chairs on the other topped with some umber-orange cushions. Complete with a lush eucalyptus centrepiece with lanterns hung directly over the dining table, the setting is fresh and coastal with an elegant Australiana flavour.

It’s so beautiful. We love you guys and we are very, very grateful — Teena
