We selected some of our favourite stylists from across the country and challenged them with a room makeover. For week 3 of our style challenge, we chose Katrina Chambers. Located in Wagga Wagga, NSW, Katrina competed on the 2011 series of The Block. In between multiple renovations and raising her three teenage boys, Katrina created the interior design blog Katrina Chambers Life & Design, which has over 230,000 page views per month.
For our style challenge, Katrina was tasked by Deb Saunder with creating a multifunction zone. The rules? It must be ‘quick to tidy up and have an unusual twist’, using the River Live Edge round dining table as her hero. After a visit to her local Early Settler, Katrina created a multipurpose work-from-home-to-formal-dining-room zone complete with a few adorable accessories.

The River dining table was selected to be the hero piece of Katrina’s multifunction makeover.
This stunning acacia timber table is so popular, our buying team recently expanded the range to include a round version (as shown here), a rectangular table in several sizes and matching bench seats. The beauty of the River is that it has a ‘live edge’, which shows the natural edge of the tree from which it was crafted.
The round table is set upon a singular star-leg base with a powder-coated jet-black finish, which offers a contemporary twist on mid-century modern design.
2
Inspired by French-farmhouse living, our Provincial range is one of our most popular. Katrina selected the Provincial Cross Back dining chairs in her makeover, which also come in crisp white, vintage white and natural.
These bistro-style dining chairs are timeless and can be dressed up or dressed down to suit your space. Beautifully suited to country, coastal and Hamptons homes, the chairs are crafted from natural oak with a comfortable wicker seat.
Set around the River round dining table, there’s space for 4 to 6 people.

Available in fabric or olive-green velvet, Katrina selected the chic grey Aura dining chairs for the formal look in her dining room update.
These seats are a little bit fancier than your average dining chairs as the soft grey fabric is upholstered over plush cushioning, which makes them both comfortable and luxurious looking.
Set over a light-tone beech wood frame, the Aura dining chairs go with any interior style, from contemporary to Scandi and look particularly chic beside the timber live edge and black star base of the River table.

Part of Katrina’s challenge for her multifunction makeover was to have ‘an unusual twist’.
Katrina picked out a selection of adorable accessories to complement her dining room, including Robbie Rabbit, the Grace vases in blush and green, the Stitch Butterflies Amongst the Flowers velvet cushion and an array of faux plants and flowers.
The result feels fresh and inspired with playful pops of colour and character.
